Biography

I did my Master's and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Carleton University (Ottawa, Canada). I joined the School of Computer Science at the University of Windsor in 2002 as an Assistant Professor, and was promoted to Full Professor in 2013.

My core research interests focus on designing foundational shallow and deep machine learning frameworks, including graph-based learning and associative memory models. My team use these frameworks to analyze high-throughput transcriptomics and multi-omics data, within single-cell, molecular interactions, cell-cell communication, and biomedical imaging.

I am a Senior Member of the IEEE, and former Associate Editor of IEEE/ACM Transactions on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics and Network Modeling Analysis in Health Informatics and Bioinformatics. I also lead the Machine Learning in Bioinformatics Lab at the University of Windsor.
